Next-generation Kia Sedona coming in 2014 - report
2012 Kia Sedona 08.5.2012

Can't come soon enough

The Kia Sedona is one of the most forgettable minivans in America, but that could soon be changing as a redesigned model is reportedly in the works.

Speaking with The Car Connection, Kia spokesman James Hope confirmed the Sedona would be discontinued for the 2013 model year. He then hinted, "We see the minivan market as one that we want to stay in."

While he declined to say when the next-generation Sedona would be introduced, the website says a redesigned model could debut later this year or early next year.

These days, you could try to tune Hyundai i800, it is RWD, could get engine implant from newer diesel with 197hp++ and just replace the suspension with kits from Bilstein, KW or whatever and fit brake kit from AP racing. Oh wait, practically that species is already exist, it is called R63 AMG. It has everything, you could ask, RWD (check), sport suspension (check), V8 (check, even larger than 5.0l) and six comfortable seats (check).

Hyundai already has a RWD van out in Korea called the Starex...saw a lot of them while vacationing in Italy two weeks ago. There are also AWD versions of the Starex as well. Saw some interesting modded Starex's in Hong Kong with lowered suspension and big wheels... Who knows may be down the road there will be one like the one you mention

Yah, that is also called Hyundai i800 in down under and Hyundai H1 in South East Asia countries (basically a i800 with leather, some electronic gimmicks and entertainment system). But in down to the car's capability, it is not good to drive, a AWD Caravelle is much better all round.

Oh...is that what they are called in other parts of the market. I know it's not a good drive...my company has a couple of them for use as logistics vehicles. It's pretty MEH...

All the latest Kia models I rate much higher than Honda or Toyota. Better design, better reliability, better quality in the interior, etc. So the new Sedona will be good I reckon.
