 Chevrolet SS details surface
2013 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE 27.3.2012

Chevrolet is yet to confirm a standalone SS performance sedan will be introduced, but a recent trademark application and an unintentional confirmation by OnStar hint that it is merely a formality. Details have been fairly scarce up until now, but a report by Car & Driver has unleashed a few rumors onto the webosphere.

The Chevrolet SuperSport Sedan will ride on the Zeta platform that underpins the Camaro. It will be available exclusively as a sedan and power will be drawn from the Camaro SS' 6.2-liter V8 with an output of approximately 415hp (310kW/421PS). Additionally, GM's new 3.6-liter V6 that debuted in the 2012 Buick LaCrosse will also be part of the lineup and will possess at least 320hp (239kW/324PS).

A NASCAR version is also expected to compete in the 2013 season, the same year the street legal version is expected to be launched.

How is that not a Commodore (which is already sold as the Chevrolet SS in Middle East markets)? Since the Camaro was developed from the 4 door Commodore SS, then a 4 door sedan on the same platform is ...

It's a GM global platform used by GM brands...Holden, Chevrolet etc...the new SS, the Cadillac ATS, and the Camaro will share a new global platform not the Holden plaftorm you referenced...

The ATS isn't on the Zeta platform "Introduced in 2012 as a 2013 model, the ATS is built on General Motors' new rear-wheel drive Alpha platform"

according to all reports it will be the commodore - there's rumours running around in the Australian Press that Holden is working on an export model for the US and Bob Lutz also according to reports has been quite keen to have the Commodore back in the US market. I would say that all indications point to the 2014 VF SV6 and (our SS) being the new Chevy SS.
