Maybach offering buyers a $100,000 rebate - report

You wanna know why it failed??? Coz it's damn ugly thats why...just look at those headlights and those stupid Front Fenders...what were they thinking??? If I had that much of money and If I wanted to waste it on an extragavant luxury car...I would rather buy the Aston Martin One-77 or the Rolls Royce or the Bentley or the Mercedes S 600 Pullman or the Mercedes CL 55/65 AMG/ or the Brabus Versions or the BMW Gran Coupe M or the Mercedes SLS Gullwing AMG. People are not stupid anymore...if it's expensive it has to be good looking.

Hmm, this is how thy got it soooo wrong. Yes, this car is perfect for what i is supposed to do, but merc missed 1 important mark, which happens to be something that they would have done better, if this cra wasn't properly marketed. The problem is the following- this is a car to have if you have a chaffeur. o be honest, I have no idea what its like to rdive a Mulsanne, even though our company has 2- because the excutives woul never drive them. Therein lies he main problem wth this car- it does not lie. The Rolls and the Bentley ceate an image that makes their owners think that they would enjoy diving them, even though doing so will make you seem like a complete arse. This car makes no such claims and that is why it did so badly. People who buy cars like this like to think that they could or would- that is what you pay for. How many do you think can pilot their own planes, drive their own cars, sail their own yachts AND operate their own fancy tehnologies? NONE- many can do several of those things, but NO ONE can do all of the above, but its nice to think they can. Its why the wealthy buy cars that they can never drive at the limit and have girlfriends which- well, the same thing can be said about them "at the limit". I personally spend fortunes to be made to feel like im better than a normal person, even though we all know thats just a BS sense of superiority. The bulk of the money is spent on making that BS sense of superiority feel convincing. In closing, nice car merc, you just never realized how daft your target market really is.

why don't they just scrap the stocks?

OH!!! Maybach 62 Zeppelin costs 12,980,000 yuan (over $2,000,000 ) in China. Even the 57 base model costs more than $850,000. PS: Virtually no one would buy a Maybach 57 in China, almost all Maybachs in our city are 62/62S models.

Even Jay Z and Kanye did better with their ruined Maybach in the video for Otis after donating it to charity. lol. No but seriously, why spend £250k on what is essentially a jumped up S Class, when all you had to do was order an S600 LWB or an SL65 LWB for a fraction of the price. The problem I suspect as well lies with the fact that this car was conceived during Mercedes' "quality issue" era, which let's face it, was a bad move. They spent all their money developing the Maybach and forgot about the styling, while the Mercs of that era, while pretty, suffered badly in the engineering stakes. Mercedes' biggest problem was marketing though. They launched 2 brands, and damn near axed both of them. Smart should've done incredibly well, considering their roadster, was one of the best handling little cars out there (even with the lame gearbox), their Fourtwo is a funky looking machine and very innovative (handles like a runaway shopping trolley but still like it), and Maybach, really and truly, had a few simple things been altered, deserved to do a lot better. Unfortunately for them, Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin et al, have all studied the market properly and are now enjoying enormous success. Bad luck Mercedes. Sincerely hope you can build back your previous reputation as 'The best cars in the world'

Epic fail.

It looks old, in a bad way. It looks expensive, in a bad way. It looks big, in a bad way. The Rolls also looks old, expensive and big, but in a good way. Mercedes made a terrible mistake basing the Maybach on the old S-class. It even looks a bit like an old S-class that got fat and bought new glasses. They should've built a completely new car that looked nothing like their other modells, then they'd be much more likely to succeed.

What a waste of a perfectly good marketable name. After 57 and 62`s not so much anymore. Fortunately Audi did not scramble after them with a "Horsch" from that same period. So THERE`s still a brand name to look forward to for a revival, slotted maybe above a Bently and slightly below a Bugatti......

If you currently own a Maybach please don't try to trade one in anytime soon. Thanks to this rebate you are $100k in negative equity + the previous amount of negative equity = Buried

Sad day. V240 is STILL one of the most advanced platforms in the world. If you dont believe it, try putting brakes on one...
