Eric Clapton's Ferrari SP12 EPC caught on video

We first caught wind of the special Ferrari SP12 EPC last week when the first pictures surfaced on the blogosphere, but now we can bring you a video that shows it in a little more detail.

The SP12 EPC is being made for legendary musician Eric Clapton who is reportedly set to part with £3 million for the honor. And generates it name from its owner (Special Project 12 Eric Patrick Clapton). The Ferraru 458 provides the base and it has been treated to a custom body kit inspired by the 512 BB.

The 4.5-liter V8 engine with 570 PS (419 kW / 562 hp) from the factory model would normally be enough but the 66-year old wanted to have a V12 equipped. Unfortunately the chassis for the 458 has not been built to handle the bigger power unit so Ferrari had to reject his request.

The project has been kept well under wraps by the Italian sports car maker and it remains to be seen if we are ever treated with the full official specifications. But if any details do arrive, you'll be sure to hear about them here on WCF.

1- it looks stunning. 2- Eric is a bit of a newb, if this is based on the 458, he shoulda specified a fire extinguisher.

I would like to surmise that Mr. Clapton shares some of the same dissatisfaction I feel about newer Ferrari designs. Unlike I, he is able to commission a bespoke solution to satisfy his new Ferrari desires. If I could be so bold as to suggest an alteration to the design of SP12 EPC, then I think it would be great to see a different set of tail lamps. Playing off the triplet tailpipes, I imagine that a return of the Ferrari 365 GT4 BB's two trios of tail lamps would be in keeping with the spirit of the design.

I'm going to be in a minority here, but I like it. I'd like it more if it were £100,000 cheaper than its going to be.
