The Bentley SUV has not been officially confirmed yet but CEO Wolfgang Duerheimer has found the time to discuss the model. In an interview he has confirmed that if the model gets the green light for production, he would like to see it feature their first ever plug-in hybrid powertrain. This could be nothing more than the dream of one man, but when this one man is the guy in charge, you tend to listen a little deeper.
It is rumored that Bentley is intending to unveil an SUV concept at the Geneva Motor Show next week. They will reportedly gauge media and client reaction before deciding whether to confirm it for production or not.
If the SUV does make it to production, it would share the same platform that underpins the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg.
Bentley would target annual sales of between 3,500 and 5,000 units which would result in total lifecycle sales of around 25,000. It will battle against their closest competitor - the Maserati Kubang SUV that will launch next year.
