New Kia K9 revealed on the road completely undisguised [video]

Amongst a flurry of spy photos and official teaser sketches in recent weeks, the Kia K9 was spotted completely free of camouflage on a motorway in South Korea. The attached two videos give us clear, although in low-resolution, front and rear views of the Opirus/Amanti successor.

The K9, codename KH, is the all-new range topping rear-wheel drive sedan designed by Kia's Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer. The former Audi designer once admitted in an interview that the K9 will have styling inspired by the Maserati Quattroporte. Besides the ornamentation on the front fenders, we fail to see any resemblance.

Since the K9 is based on the Hyundai Genesis, engine options will likely include a 3.8-liter V6 with 333 hp (248 kW / 338 PS), a 4.6-liter V8 with 385 hp (287 kW / 390 PS), and a 5.0-liter V8 that develops 429 hp (320 kW / 435 PS).

The Kia K9 is expected to be revealed for its domestic market during the fall of this year.

I would be VERY embarrassed to drive this KIA thing - or the Cadenza. People will smirk at you in America, knowing that you are a poseur. Plus, KIAs and Hyundais are known to have VERY sloppy handling/suspensions. If you live in a curvy/mountainous area like SoCal, these cars will literally make you SEASICK! There's a REASON they are cheaper. Do they use any components from the North Korea CONCENTRATION CAMPS?

Kia is doing a lazy job. Hyundai should infuse the change into them.

Look at the engines and the specs. Also how korea developed so much in automotive industry. Now they can do better than America, where people criticizes everything they can't do, and we don't deserve to speak bad really.....

Looks like a BMW.......but considering how underestimated the Korean brands are these days, will probably be better and far, far cheaper............its only badge snobbery that will keep the droves away, especially within the materialistic UK. Its been far too long since the establishment have been challenged, the time is here and now, well done Kia!

Chysler 300C imposing as a Phantom was ok and we can let that slip, now this one imposing as a 5 series is unacceptable.

Looks good...I can see tracess of a BMW 5 Series GT, BMW 7 Series and Maseratti in it...but I dont think it was intentional...I don't blame Kia for this...I dont think they were trying to copy anyone...I think, in an attempt to be original they have inadvertently created a car which looks like a cross between a Bimmer and a Maseratti. The only way to be truly differrent is to totally avoid any similarities to any pre-existing Models...which is quite challenging when you are targeting the similar target group...and NO I'm not working for Kia.

No, I love design, I studied it, you can tell intentional lines on this car. If you read my post above, it is designed so that your average consumer will look at a BMW and this and because they look similarly, they will choose KIA due to price assuming that if they look alike in quality, underneath it's the same as well...

I like this car! There are bits of BMW and Lexus all roll into one. Maser? Nay! KIA should have made a smaller one too, like a D or C-segment model. As it stands, full-size K9 is probably destined for much of chauffeur duties.

WOW, BMW should sue, this is no doubt an attempt to confuse people to thinking that this is as good of a product as the BMW, since lots of people don't care for the brand as long as it looks like what everyone else says a good car -- a BMW. This is wrong!!! Just like GSS5_23 said, I was building respect for them, now it's all gone.

And a note to BMW..if you have any self respect, you'd file a copyright/patent infringement lawsuit right NOW.

I'm sorry but this is absolutely pathetic. Kia needs to stop the copy and paste game right now and come up with something original. I thought Kia was on their way to being a great car company, as they have achieved much over the years, but whoever designed this car is a pathetic good for nothing scumbag. I have lost much respect for Kia upon seeing this. They are no better than the typical chinese car company.

The whole thing screams 7 series. to think that the rest of their lineup has it own identity and now they come up with a knockoff for a flagship? Was Peter shreyer off duty while this was designed? It definitely is a Kia canine
