Land Rover Evoque Cabriolet Concept spotted in London

It was just a few short days ago that the first images were released previewing the new Land Rover Evoque Cabriolet Concept, so it comes as a big surprise to see it cruising the streets in London. It was caught by Twitter user Simon Truscott who managed to get the single shot of the vehicle when he stumbled upon it on the streets of London near the Tower bridge.

The new evidence adds a big portion of substance to the production possibility of the model. It would become the first premium convertible SUV to arrive in dealerships with rumors hinting a 2014 or 2015 launch date.

There is also a possibility that the concept is merely making a pitstop in London for another promotional event. Land Rover explicitly said in their initial press release that there are no production plans confirmed.

The concept is based on the three-door Evoque and features a retractable soft-top roof that is reported to only have minor impact on the kerb weight, but full specifications are still being kept under lock and key.

This kind of car reminds me of the cars their used to be when they did movies like Grease where they were covered with young people. I love it !

That is the sexiest mobile bathtub I have ever seen, lol! Seriously though, it look better than the Nissan Murano Cross-Cabriolet, but I'm not sure they will be others who will participate in the near future.

Why are people saying this is pointless? This is following the original Willis Jeep concept of a convertable off roader, in a more fashionable way. Sure it was designed by victoria Beckham so its probably gonna sell like hotcakes for suburban moms however I would love to go off road in the countryside oneday and also having the benefits of a cabrio. Although the Nissan murano cabrio thing is straight up stupid.

but aren't glass-roofed cars appropriate enough to give the impression of alfresco driving experience but with the added security against theft , privacy intrusion , rollover mishaps , irate RPG-wielding mother-in-laws , frenzied football fanatics , outraged anti-global warming protesters , mindless SuperBowl advertisement broadcasts , extra-terrestrial alien abductions , rabid vampire and zombie attacks , rapacious WallStreet global economic saboteurs , murderous Hellfire missile - armed assassination drones tasked with upholding freedom and democracy , trigger-happy hillbilly Apache assault helicopter gunship operators casually taking out defenseless civilian populations , nuclear/biological/chemical fallout contamination or , Heaven forbid... sudden exposure to rain or snow ? absolute real-world concerns that this car hardly take into account to address the safety and well-being of its VictoriaBeckham-bedazzled occupants . if it did , it would have simply shown the vehicle's folding roof structure reasonably deployed .

I'm not offended as many are by LR's attempt to make this but I will say its not totally pointless, what topless car has a compliant ride on London roads, enough ground clearance, has a panache design and sport a small footprint whilst not looking completely radical? It would also make a lot of sense for those ladies who hang around the beach a lot. It will cater to a very small albeit flaunty bunch and where there is a will there is a way. (out of place on countryside roads though)

I think its great all these fools who say its a terrible idea for 4x4ing.... Well this car is good off road and was mainly designed as a style car for the cities and such in the first place so having a soft top there will only enhance its kerb appeal so even more people can see the narcacist driving. Wen lr unvieled the dc 100 sport concept with its big v8 and no roof none of these well u cant go off roading comments werent on that article....

Has anyone else noticed that the rear 'Range Rover' badge is sited differently (a-bit lower) on this Evoque than the one in the official pics? Strange...

The Evoque Coupe's design is as definitive as the 1954-'57 Mercedes-Benz 300SL, the 1976-'89 BMW 6-Series, and the 1970-'95 Range Rover. IMHO, the cabriolet Evoque appears premature, unfinished, on a lower rung--and slipping towards generic status. Even Classic Range Rovers seem to lose distinction when someone chops their tops. Moreover, I believe the iconic Evoque Coupe already addressed the issue of rear passenger claustrophobia with its panoramic glass roof! Currently, I'm dreaming of an Evoque Coupe with at least two more cylinders, painted in Ecurie Ecosse blue metallic, with a silver panoramic roof, and the Euro-spec ?Couture? interior color scheme option.

If you do it LR - MAKE it premium and put a "sports" oriented engine in it (puh-lease give it a better donk than anything currently on offer in Evoque)
