Renault Megane RS 250 Australian Grand Prix Limited Edition 24.02.2012

Australia no longer has to settle for the limited Monaco Grand Prix Edition Megane RS 250. Now the island continent gets its own Australian Grand Prix Limited Edition to commemorate this year's inaugural Formula 1 Grand Prix on March 18.

However, the Megane RS AGP gets an early debut on Monday the 12th as it prepares to race against Renault Jet Pack Man on the Albert Park circuit as part of the Grand Prix activities.

Just like the Monaco Grand Prix limited edition, the Megane RS AGP is distinguished by gloss black paint and a fixed glass roof. Other details include gloss black 19-inch Steev wheels wrapped in Bridgestone RE050A tires and red Brembo brake calipers.

Inside, there is a racing-inspired interior with black leather Renault Sport Recaro front seats. Other features include satellite navigation, bi-xenon directional headlights and front and rear parking sensors.

Only 50 Megane RS AGP units will be sold in Australia and each will feature and individual number plaque. The Megane RS AGP has a manufacturer's list price of $49,990.

More details in press release below.

For 35 years, Renault and Formula 1 TM have been pursuing a common goal: to push back the limits of motor sports and technology. Since 1977 Renault has claimed nine Drivers' world crowns and ten Constructors' titles. After going back to its core expertise as an engine-provider in 2011, Renault powers four teams in 2012, amounting to one third of the grid.

In 2012, Renault is at the heart of the pinnacle of motorsport and to celebrate the 2012 Australian Formula 1TM Grand Prix, Renault Australia is launching the Megane R.S. 250 Australian Grand Prix Limited Edition.

As a centre point of Renault's 2012 Australian Formula 1TM Grand Prix activities, the Megane R.S. AGP will be making its debut on Monday 12th March in a race off with Renault Jet Pack Man on the Albert Park circuit. Following this the vehicle will be on display at Albert Park in F1 Central for the 4 day event.

The Megane R.S. AGP is immediately distinguished by gloss black paint and a fixed glass roof, which was first seen on the highly successful Monaco Grand Prix limited edition.

The striking exterior looks are further enhanced by gloss black 19-inch Steev wheels with a red piping, as seen on the Megane R.S. 250 Trophy in Europe, enhanced by the hallmark Renault Sport red Brembo brake callipers. The wheels display the R.S. badge in the centre and are shod with Bridgestone RE050A tyres.

These asymmetric, ultra-high-performance tyres incorporate dynamic sporty handling and a quiet, comfortable ride to meet the rigorous demands of prestige performance vehicles. The inner and outer tread design is derived from Bridgestone's winning Formula 1TM technology and offers outstanding grip and responsive handling in both dry and wet conditions. On Megane R.S.

Trophy, these tyres contributed to the record set by Renault Sport on the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

The racing-inspired interior is further enhanced by black leather Renault Sport RECARO height adjustable front seats.

In response to customer feedback and demand, the limited edition will also include integrates satellite navigation, bi-xenon directional headlights and front and rear parking sensors.

Only 50 Megane R.S. AGP will be sold in Australia and each will feature and individual plaque. The Megane R.S. AGP has a manufacturer's list price of $49,990.

Commenting on the launch of this motorsport-inspired limited edition Justin Hocevar, Managing Director of Renault Australia, said: "I am very excited to be introducing this new limited edition." We experienced a very strong customer demand when we introduced the Monaco Grand Prix inspired limited edition in August, 2011 and based on our customer feedback we jumped at the opportunity to create this extraordinary Megane R.S. AGP.

"The Megane R.S. AGP is the ultimate package!" We have ticked every box in the building of this car and anticipate very strong customer demand.

"To celebrate the vehicle's launch we are launching with a 3.9% finance rate." It is now more attractive than ever to purchase the award-winning R.S. 250.

The Megane R.S. AGP will hit Renault showrooms in March.

There's a sucker born every minute. High on price, low on value. I'd rather save 8k and get the normal 250 cup. Even more, I'd rather get something better than the Megane.

Might be difficult to get something better than a Megane 250 cup in this category since it is the best car....Ask any journos or better, the owners themselves!

I always liked the Megane, but this RS is downright sexual.

Whilst the Megane 250 is a great looking car, I must admit for the price of these in Australia, I would sooner put my money towards the VW Scirocco R. Having driven these at pace on track and wet skidpan, power delivery, handling and poise is marvellous (not to mention they look fantastic in Candy White). I will mention, the last performance Megane I drove was the 225 Cup and haven't had the pleasure of experiencing the 250 (by all accounts, is a great car as well), the resale of Renault here is abysmal. Before I am accused of being a VW fanboy, I maintain that the best Demo I have driven for extended period in my 12 years in the Auto industry, was the Renaultsport Clio 182Cup.
