Compared to previous spy photos, the 2013 BMW 3-Series wagon has shed more camouflage giving us our best look so far. However, digital artists at PS-Garage.com have perhaps given the best glimpse yet with a potentially revealing rendering showing a clean view of the rear.

Internally known as F31, the BMW estate variant will grow in all directions providing more interior space for the passengers and cargo. It will also become a bit more versatile with 40/20/40 flat-folding rear seats, a boot cover that retracts and lowers with the boot lid, and the glass window in the tailgate that opens separately to aid practicality too.

The elegant load lugger will carry over engine options from the sedan, so there should be a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol with outputs of 184 PS (135 kW / 181 bhp) and 245 PS (180 kW / 241 bhp) as well as a 3.0-liter inline-six with 320 PS (235 kW / 315 bhp) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. On the diesel side, we can expect a 2.0-liter unit producing 143 PS (105 kW / 141 bhp) and 184 PS (135 kW / 181 bhp).

Look for the 2013 BMW 3-Series wagon to launch in the fall.

The proportions of this car seem strange. All that sheet metal loaded up in the rear design makes the rear wheels look 2" smaller than the front. Fail.
