BMW M3 Coupe Competition Edition announced for Singapore
2012 BMW M3 Coupe Competition Edition for Asian market 21.02.2012

BMW Asia has announced Singapore will receive eight BMW M3 Coupe Competition Editions out of a total production run of 450 units worldwide. First announced back in November 2011, the M3 Competition Edition commemorates 40 years of the M division.

BMW Asia has released this wallpaper worthy set of new photos.

To refresh your memory, the limited-edition BMW M3 Coupe will only be available in Frozen Silver Metallic exterior paint with a deep metallic finish. Exterior accents includes black hood intakes and dark chrome kidney grill trim, M side gills and the exhaust pipe tips, as well as the same 19-inch rims from the BMW M3 GTS.

Inside, the Competition Edition adds black Novillo leather with palladium silver accents and stitching on the front seats, headrests, door trim panels, center console, and center armrest, along with an Alcantara-covered steering wheel and a BMW M3 Checkered Flag logo inlay featured on the door sills. Carbon trim on the dashboard and center console complete the interior upgrades.

For performance, the BMW M3 Coupe Competition Edition has been reduced in height by 10mm, and the M3 GTS 19-inch wheels get a wider offset for enhanced stability, a modified Electronic Damper Control, and a higher-threshold programming for the M Dynamic Mode. The M3 Coupe Competition Edition is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine that produces 420 PS (309 kW / 414 hp) and is mated to an M DCT double clutch transmission which allows a 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.6 seconds.

BMW is learning from Aston Martin and keeps power the same, changing few accessories and making it Special. A good way to make more money with an old powertrains. Soon mat paint alone will make car a Special. Edition.

Well needless to say that Singapore was the first country in the world to setup an M showroom - and still is - so little surprise that some special editions such as the BMW M3 Coupe Competition would be sold.
