Ferrari Enzo successor to pump 920hp - report
New Ferrari Enzo artist sketch

Details of the long rumored successor to the all conquering Ferrari Enzo have returned yet again. This time they come courtesy of a report by Autoweek that says power on the super-duper car will hit 920hp and it will be called the F70.

According to the report, the majority of the power will be generated by a 7.3-liter V12 engine - a further development of the power plant to be employed in the F620. The F620 aka 620 GT will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

A total of 120 horsepower will also be derived from the kinetic energy recovery system (KERS) that is better known for its employment in Formula 1 cars. One thing that must be noted is that the KERS system only gives a power boost for a limited time until the energy is regenerated meaning the Enzo replacement will spend a great deal of time with just 800 horsepower available. It seems a little low, but with a low kerb weight and enhanced driving dynamics, it could be enough.

Talking of weight, the report also states it will set the scales to around 1134kg (2,500 lbs) which is a good dip on its predecessor that comes in at 1,365 kg (3,010 lbs).

If all rumors turn out to be accurate, the new F70 will battle the successor to the McLaren F1 and the Porsche 918.

Bear with me for constantly thinking about the same thing : 920hp ? Fine. I'm sure Ferrari could pump that out pretty easily, but, in today's world, when so many RWD cars are pumping out so much power, the question is, HOW, do they put down those ponies ? I mean, even an F1 driver, in something with sticky slicks and unbelievable downforce, needs good throttle control to tame the F1 cars. It really does make me wonder how, as I remember a youtube vid from Hennessy saying the Venom GT with 1200hp on rear wheels as having good traction ....

Stupid to compare Ferrari F70 and Hennessey Venom GT between, car what is Lotus for real. Venom GT fight different league, with Bugattis, Koenigseggs. ETC.

Well when F1 drivers need supreme throttle control to manage traction it tends to be in low speed sections of the circuit where downforce is very low. How will the Ferrari put down 920hp? It almost never will. Most of the time it will be delivering only 800. A well sorted chassis with extremely well developed (active) suspension setup will combine with advanced traction control, incredibly intelligent differentials, and active throttle management in unison to provide a high level of driveability.

The V12 lives! Oh wait, it's Ferrari. They don't care what the rest of the world thinks.

Actually after reading the interview with their boss, it seems like this might be the last engine of it's kind since they will eventually down size them.

Oh, well crap then. Why can't they just figure out how to make the V12 more efficient? I'm sure there's a way.

Fantastic news!!!! No twin turbo for this!!! :D. So exciting, we thought the GTO was raw. Imagine this!!! Cannot wait, needing some new renderings for this, maybe some spy shots. It will no doubt be hideous as was the Enzo upon release. I am in no doubt the Enzo is fantastic looking now and has aged fantastically. Looking forward to this :D
