McLaren MP4-12C arrives on US shores [video]

McLaren Automotive has marked the arrival of the first MP4-12C models in the United States with this new video. It shows the super cars as they are driven off the delivery ship plus footage taken from the key markets that the company hope to exploit. The video was created by DRIVE Channel's creator and Chief Creative Officer of TangentVector, J.F. Musial, who has been featured here on WCF many times before.

The MP4-12C's arrival in the States marks a significant step for the brand and they also plan to launch a new model or variant in the North American market every year.

"This film is exciting as it represents the arrival of McLaren Automotive in North America," Tony Joseph, McLaren Automotive North America Regional Director said. "We are thrilled to be launching with the 12C, which is such a tremendously innovative car, and we look forward to building a long term future."

This first variant is McLaren's first road going model since the all-conquering F1. It boasts a 3.8-liter V8 twin turbo engine that produces 592hp ( 441 kW / 600 PS ) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque that enables it to achieve a 0-100 km/h time of 3.2 seconds. This can be lowered to 3 seconds flat if fitted with Pirelli PZero Corsa tires.

Pricing in the US starts at $229,000 and it is available from a choice of nine dealerships throughout the country.

Deliveries of the MP4-12C are now underway to customers in North America and Canada. To celebrate the arrival of the 12C, McLaren is releasing a video of the car and its first street drives across North America. The video may be viewed or embedded from McLaren Automotive’s official YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/mclarenautomotivetv

The video was shot in five locations across the United States in some of the key markets where McLaren has dealerships.  Additionally, footage was shot on location at McLaren’s port of entry in Baltimore, MD. The footage includes the MP4-12C rolling off the cargo vessel Taisko which had just arrived from the United Kingdom.

J.F. Musial, Chief Creative Officer of TangentVector, directed and produced the video. Musial recently launched DRIVE, the new YouTube Original Channel focusing on creating original automotive content for the web.

The arrival of the MP4-12C marks the launch of McLaren Automotive in North America. McLaren plans to launch a new model or variant in the North American market each year, expanding its lineup and reaching new enthusiast audiences.

MP4-12C: Groundbreaking performance and technology

The MP4-12C features a 3.8-liter V8 twin turbo engine, which produces 592hp and 600Nm torque. The innovative sports car, which features no ‘carryover’ component from any other vehicle, is capable of reaching 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds (3.0 if fitted with Pirelli PZero Corsa tires).  The 12C’s unique carbon fiber ‘MonoCell’ chassis weighs justover 165 lbs. and is a clear representation of McLaren’s motorsport DNA; McLaren introduced a carbon fiber monocoque to Formula 1 in 1981 and has produced every one of its road and race car chassis since using the same composite material.

Tony Joseph, McLaren Automotive North America Regional Director said: “This film is exciting as it represents the arrival of McLaren Automotive in North America. We are thrilled to be launching with the 12C, which is such a tremendously innovative car, and we look forward to building a long term future.”

McLaren Automotive is represented by 10 dealerships throughout North America. There are nine dealers located in the United States: McLaren Greenwich, McLaren Philadelphia, McLaren Tampa, The Collection McLaren (Miami), McLaren Dallas, McLaren Chicago, McLaren Newport Beach, McLaren San Francisco, and McLaren Beverly Hills. McLaren Toronto represents McLaren Automotive in Canada. The base MSRP for the 12C is $229,000 in the US.*

These are just arriving? I saw one in an Orange County parking garage in November of last year. Strange.
