Could offer a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine

According to a recent report, the next-generation Opel / Vauxhall Corsa will be launched in 2014.

Auto Motor und Sport says the model will ride on the Gamma II platform which also underpins the Chevrolet Aveo / Sonic, Buick Encore and Opel Mokka. This could enable the next-generation Corsa to weigh 50 kg (110 lbs) less than the current model. Unfortunately, the car is expected to keep its torsion-beam rear suspension instead of a more expensive mutli-link setup.

The magazine also says the vehicle will be about the same size as today's model, but it will adopt dramatic styling with an aggressive front fascia and a coupe-like roofline.

Under the hood, we can expect a turbocharged 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine and a variety of four-cylinder units. The latter mills will reportedly feature forced induction, direct injection and a start/stop system.

2014 is too far away. Opel should have been more aggressive on the Corsa's styling when designing the current model. Instead they made a rather uninspiring look while competition like the Fiesta attracted buyers of all ages.
