2013 Volvo V40 leaked images

The alleged leak of the Volvo V40 from yesterday now looks a little more real after Dutch site Autoblog.nl managed to rip these pictures from a magazine that show the new model from all angles.

The publication (Auto Motor Sport Sweden) that the images are taken from has also revealed some specification details in their text. It says the platform may also be used for future models including an open-top C40, S40 sedan as well as an XC40 SUV to challenge the BMW X1. Unfortunately our Swedish language skills are slightly rusty at the moment, but check out the attached images to see the details for yourself.

As we have mentioned before, the V40 is Volvo's answer to the Audi A3 Sportback and the BMW 1-Series. It is due to be launched across Europe in the summer with prices starting at around €26,000.

Imo the new Volvo design language looks a little unsettling, especially the rear end of the hatch. But come the official photos I will decide whether it would be a better-looking car - or not.

In that case of competing with A3 and 1 series, I wonder where would the C30 be placed on the market then ?

Volvo is a family car so in the real world they are not so much battling against BMW and MB. This is more like for a new segment between A4 and A3, aiming practicality and safety as priority. Good job Volvo.

I like it. The back is a bit odd, but at least is not copying anything. ...and it's not f* ugly like the 1 series... :D

I like it. I hope that the interior reflects the qualities associated with the brand - comfort, quality and reliability. Certainly it looks like a strong, well built car, and that is a real Volvo value, and one that will appeal to anyone looking for a family car. I would say when you compare it to its peers - Golf (excellent, but so drab, particularly inside), BMW 1 series (should have been put down at birth) etc, it makes a refreshing change.

I'm glad to see them incorporate S60/XC60 design queues over their Universe design study.
