We have seen the 2013 Audi A3 hatchback inside and out via spy photos, interior teaser photos and fuzzy graphical images. We've also seen the new A3 without its clothes. So it comes as no surprise that digital artists were able to provide renderings based upon what we've seen so far.
The third generation Audi A3 will come in four variants: 3-door hatch, cabriolet, 5-door Sportback and 4-door sedan.
The interior features higher quality materials, angled instrument panel towards the driver, new MMI control panel with handwriting touchpad, a pop-up seven-inch display, circular air vents, brushed aluminum trim and a pop-up infotainment system with a seven-inch display.
Volkswagen has confirmed a new family of three and four-cylinder petrol engines dubbed the EA211 series. The 1.2- and 1.4-liter engines produces 60 PS (44 kW / 59 hp) to 150 PS (110 kW / 148 hp) and feature cylinder-deactivation technology (1.4 TSI with 140 PS; 103 kW) - a world's first for a four-cylinder engine. On the diesel side, there's the new EA288 engine family which churns out 90 PS (66 kW / 89 hp) to 190 PS (140 kW / 187 hp).
The EA211 engines reduce fuel consumption by 8 to 10% thanks to reduced internal friction of moving parts, reduced weight and increased thermal management.
Based upon these initial details, the next generation Audi A3 is building up to be a tough opponent for the competition to beat. Until its public reveal in one month in Geneva, these artist rendering will have to satisfy our curiosity for now.
