These BMW and Porsche commercials would have been perfect for Super Bowl [videos]

In the run up to Super Bowl XLVI this Sunday, where car makers are the most prominent advertisers, BMW and Porsche have released two commercials that feature their motorsports heritage and high performance machines. Unfortunately, they won't be seen during the game. Instead, BMW is showing at a regional level some weak 3-Series spots that focus on bells and whistles while Porsche isn't showing anything.

Despite this, the two German manufacturers have released on their YouTube channels today commercials that stand almost in defiance to the other Super Bowl commercials with their marketing gimmicks and celebrity appearances. With racing and driving enthusiasm as its foundation, these two commercials speak of the passion and devotion exhibited by their customers.

So, the question is raised, would you prefer to see BMW and Porsche making Hollywood style big production commercials? Or simple purist commercials like the ones posted here?

what a shame they didn't use these 2 commercials for the Super Bowl. these 2 commercial transmit the best message of the brands, but i guess they used comedy as the ONLY way to grab attention during the Super Bowl...

I'm guessing Americans do not care about a company's heritage, they just want useless options on their gas-guzzling automobiles. (down I go)

These ads don't have what they called in advertising "water cooler" effect. They are not suited for the super bowl spots. Very true and very well made though.

quite right , these ads are simply not suitable for the super bowl audience ... it serves to benefit only those people exclusively blessed with keen intellect .

these are the real messages... "the balance", "the power is not everything", the past, the present and the future, the real brand image, not the keyless entry, the easy trunk opening system... but... well, for those watching the super bowl, probably these things are more important than the history...
