BMW releases six mildly funny 3-Series promos - one for Super Bowl XLVI [videos]

BMW USA has released six humorous commercials, one of which will appear in the New York tri-state area during Super Bowl XLVI.

In the ad spots, which all take place at the same house but with different families, the features of the new 2013 BMW 3-Series are highlighted. They include driver's seat position memory, heated steering wheel, hands-free trunk opening, side view cameras, keyless entry and connected drive email reader.

The single ad spot that will be shown during the Super Bowl is the "The Big Grab" (seen above) with the heated steering wheel.

The ad campaign also begins running online at sites including NBC.com, ABC.com and Hulu but you can watch them all right here.

Cute Ads... but nothing special or extra-ordinary.

Lame, lame, lame. These ads are more fitting for the mini-van crowd rather than a driver's car. Says more Toyota than BMW. Or should I say Ford, as Ford already has most if not all of these features.

Cute ads but, nothing special. Those toys are nothing to advertise about. My 12 year old volvo has memorised seat positions and a cheap fiesta even has keyless entry. BMW, even the fat housewifes of america wouldn't fall for these.

A motion sensor to open the trunk because you're too lazy to put the bag on the ground for a few seconds and open the boot yourself. It's ironic now that the 3 Series is a COMPACT executive sedan the size of an E39 5 Series.

ultimate "driving" machine.....all i see are the little gizmo's that BMW decided to show off, not exactly living up to their slogan.

These ads are funny and to the point. Anyone worth their salt in advertising should be aware; it's not what you're selling but how you sell it. BMW has the drivers onboard already; the three series is their entry-mid level car which is why these ads are designed to target a broader market and highlight the creature comforts in a humorous light rather than the driving dynamics. They make a humorous and refreshing change to the normal "ultimate driving machine" ads - usually a stereotypical alphamale cruising around a winding road.
