BREAKING: Lamborghini SUV confirmed by senior Audi manager
Lamborghini crossover concept leaked images, 1024, 30.01.2012

The rumors of a Lamborghini SUV have been spreading like a wild fire ever since images leaked from Quattroruote magazine. At the time, it couldn't be confirmed whether the images were real or just speculative renderings, and furthermore, the Italian marque was keeping very quiet on the matter.

However, all that could be about to change. According to a report by Autonews, a senior manager at Lamborghini's sister brand Audi has confirmed an SUV is in the works.

"I can't comment in detail but the speculation in the press is largely correct," the Audi manager responded when questioned about reports of a successor to the famed Lamborghini LM002.

The new SUV/Crossover is set to be unveiled at the Beijing motor show in late April, most likely in concept form that will preview the upcoming model. It will extend the Lamorghini model lineup to three, joining the Gallardo and the recently launched Aventador LP700-4.

The SUV is speculated to have a length of around 5 meters (197 inches) and will have a similar sloping roofline to the BMW X6 along with aggressive styling well associated with the Italian super car maker.

A version of Volkswagen's MLB/MLP (Modularer Längsbaukasten /Modular Longitudinal Platform) is due to provide the underpinnings to the new model. The same platform is also set to be used for the next generation Porsche Cayenne, Volkswagen Touareg and Audi Q7.

The 5.2-liter V-10 engine from Gallardo is expected to be used to power the new SUV with an output of around 580hp (432 kW / 588 PS).

The only reason the old LM was a liked is it was such a crazy non-Lambo thing at the time and for me no matter how good or crazy the new one is its just following the current SUV trend more than a trend-setter itself.

People love SUV's even though they do not perform like a car. Look how well the x5 and Cayene have done and everyone said they would not survive. I have a 05 Gallardo , that I bought new and it has been a great reliable car. I would love to put his SUV in my stable!

yeah...so? the Q7 has the sloaping roof (coupe styled) before bmw. and if we do not limit our view to suvs, the CLS had the sloaping roof before both audi and bmw. if the article compared the roof with the q7 or cls or...whatever other car....would u have said the same? probably not. maybe u have 2 bmw badges instead of ur eyeballs. (a brand which i respect....dont get me wrong) but what happened to... "hey, nice desgin. good job"

no need to force yourself just because you don't like the x6. it is obvious that the back of the lambo suv looks very similar to the one of the x6 and NOT the cls and absolutely NOT the q7. the article didn't compare this lambo to the q7 or cls for a reason. i wrote the comment because x6 haters do not miss any opportunity when it is time to criticize it. however i felt like these people weren't able to criticize the x6 this time and i enjoyed this case since it is not so common. i like lambo as much as i like bmw so this has nothing to do with what i say. there is no sense on sayin "hey, nice design. good job" because first of all this is not the real design but just a speculation and secondly because when i see the rear of this speculation, it reminded me the x6 and the fact that the article implies the x6, i am not the only one.
