2013 Mercedes CLS Shooting Break Spy Video

Mercedes has seen a lot of success from the CLS-Class since it was initially launched in 2004, although at the time it was the only a four-door coupe that was on the market. It has since seen rivals such as the Audi A7 and Porsche Panamera arrive on the scene that have threatened its position. The German superpower is now looking to make new waves in the premium sector with the launch of the CLS Shooting Break.

We first saw a concept preview of the model at the 2010 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition and Mercedes was looking for a positive reaction to sway their decision for production. It is quite clear their decision has been made, judging by the prototype caught testing in the attached video.

The CLS Shooting Break prototype is wearing only a light layer of camouflage, it reveals that the styling of the production version will look very similar to the concept. The front and rear will get a few minimal cosmetic changes and the dimensions will remain relatively unchanged with a length of around 5 meters.

The engine range from the Coupe will carry over to the wagon/estate variant. Expect a 204 PS (150 kW / 201 hp) 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, a 265 PS (195 kW / 262 hp) 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, a 306 PS (225 kW / 302 hp) 350 BlueEFFICIENCY, and a 408 PS (300 kW / 402 hp) 500 BlueEFFICIENCY.

Sales are expected to begin in the summer with prices starting a little higher than the four-door coupe version.

Can't wait for this! Mercedes leading the way again like they did with the original CLS! I'd give it a year before the rest copy - BMW 6 series touring, Audi A7 avant etc

took the words out of my mouth, this certainly re-establishes the CLS from whe it was when it started the game, I'm not a Merc/BMW/Audi person perse but Merc has just gotten in front again in this segment, this takes wagon desirebility to dizzifying heights!

Ugly like all Mercedes-Benz. BMW & Audi do much better designs.

Maybe they should check the suspension, it's a little bouncy.

Can't say you're wrong, but that makes the 4-door coupe a sedan.

It is a sedan, only yuppies ever fell for the "coupe" claim, a four door car is a sedan, add a hatch and it's a station wagon, raise it a few inches and give it all wheel drive and it becomes an SUV. They can try to frame it any way they want, this is a station wagon and the standard CLS is a sedan, not that there is anything wrong with that.
