MINI launch schedule until 2016 revealed - report
MINI Cooper

A report has surfaced from "reliable sources" on the webosphere that has outlined the potential product plan for MINI band for the next 4 years. We have already heard the disappointing news that the Mini Rocketman concept has failed to make the cut, but the brand appear to have new models in the pipeline to keep fans interested.

The first model to be launched will be the MINI Paceman which we have already seen in concept form. It is due to hit the market at the beginning of 2013 and is the final model before the next generation family begin to arrive.

The first model to be launched will be three-door hatchback that should be available towards the end of next year. It will be followed by the five-door version (codenamed F54) in the summer of 2014 which BMW hope to challenge competitors such as the Mercedes A-Class and Audi A1 Sportback.

A year later, the MINI Clubman will hit the market and is expected to share the same platform as the aforementioned five-door hatchback. The new generation model will gain an extra door to become a four-door and will grow an extra 10 inches in length. This means the strange asymmetrical rear door arrangement that features a rear door only on one side has been scrapped.

2015 will see the introduction of a five-door Sportvan (codenamed F58) that will feature a long wheelbase and will essentially be identified as a people carrier despite its low roof design. It is set to share the same platform as BMW's new entry level sedan which is reportedly being prepared specifically for the Chinese market, however MINI's version will be available worldwide.

Finally in 2016, MINI will launch a new notchback sedan.

Hate to be a pessamist but it sounds like the Mini brand is going to be watered down! Can't imagine a notchback sedan. The latest interior shots of the new hatch look very generic too!

I loved Mini when it only had the Mini One, Cooper and Cooper S. This is getting out of hand. Minis are no longer 'Mini'.
