Chrysler considering the Australian V8 Supercar Racing Series - report
2011 Chrysler 300 - 12.21.2010

Could compete in 2013

According to reports from down under, Chrysler is considering an entry into the world of Australian V8 Supercar racing.

While the series prominently features vehicles from Ford and GM's Holden, Chrysler has been a notable American absence. That could soon be changing as SRT CEO Ralph Gilles recently told Drive "I am extremely interested [in V8 Supercars]" and "it's very unique to that market so it may work beautifully in the Australian market."

While Chrysler models could begin competing in the series in 2013, the company would have to find an existing team to sponsor and invest approximately $10 million AUD ($10.6 million USD / €8,111,040).

With the new formula coming into play soon, along with the series expansion to include North American races, it would be surprising not to see Chrysler involved, along with Toyota, Nissan, BMW, Mercedes, VW/Audi, etc.
