The 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe / ix45 has been caught a number of times during test runs, but styling has always been well hidden under camouflage. Now, thanks to some leaked images, we get our first look at what lies beneath. The location of these photos is unknown.
The images reveal the thick three-bar chrome grille and most of the styling that surrounds it on the front end. The overall shape seems more rounded than the current generation with headlights that wrap around to the side panels. The fog lights also appear to be getting a line of LED daytime running lights.
Looking at the leaked image from the rear we can see the side windows run almost all the way to the liftgate glass leaving a very pinched top of the rear corner pillar. This is because it has been treated to a third row of seating creating space for an additional two passengers.
Engines are currently unknown but rumors have suggested a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 274 hp (204 kW / 278 PS) and 269 lb-ft (364 Nm) of torque will be available.
The new CUV will be known as the Santa Fe in North American markets and as the ix45 elsewhere. It will make its public debut at the New York Auto Show in April.
