M1 successor also rumored

Our spies have caught the BMW M6 on numerous occasions, but new details are starting to emerge about the highly-anticipated model.

According to Autocar, the vehicle will be more performance-oriented and feature a carbon fiber roof as well as carbon fiber body panels. There's also word of a sportier suspension, carbon-ceramic brakes and lightweight alloy wheels.

Like the M5, the car is slated to use a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine with 560 PS (412 kW / 552 hp) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. It will likely enable the coupe to accelerate from 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 4.5 seconds.

Despite the sporting emphasis, insiders contend the M6 will still be comfortable. However, they were cautious to say the model shouldn't be compared to vehicles like the Porsche 911.

Interestingly, one source told the magazine "BMW has a great heritage of super-coupes and the M6 is the latest part of that. But we also want to do something that we can call a super sports car." This implies an M1 successor, but previous reports have suggested the company has decided against producing such a model.

Regardless, the M6 coupe will likely be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Wow...all that Carbon Fiber sounds really promising...I think this car can do the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) at around 4.1 seconds.
