Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca faster than Ferrari, Aston, Audi R8, AMG [video]

Looks like the boys at Sport Auto finally shook off their wintry shivers and made it out to Hockenheim for a performance test with the Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca.

The limited edition Mustang surprised by clocking a time faster than the Aston Martin DBS, Ferrari California, Mercedes C 63 AMG Coupe, Audi R8 4.2 FSI quattro and BMW M3 Coupe.

Auto Sport's Christian Gebhardt tells WCF, "The braking performance of the 2012 Boss Laguna Seca was better than the Porsche 991 Carrera S with optional PCCB-brakes."

Not exactly known for its handling prowess, the Boss 302 Laguna Seca is an entirely different beast as it was tuned as a purposeful track car.

The Boss 302 Laguna Seca's chassis was stiffened by 10 percent. This was achieved by higher-rate coil springs, larger rear stabilizer bar, adjustable dampers and an X-brace in lieu of rear seats.

Other items contributing to the Mustang's handling and driving feel include an aggressive front splitter, a larger rear spoiler, 19-inch wheels with R-compound ultra-high-performance tires, Recaro sport seats and Alcantara steering wheel.

Power is provided by a 5.0-liter V8 engine with 440 hp (328 kW / 446 PS) and 380 lb-ft (515 Nm) of torque. A six-speed close-ratio manual gearbox sends power to the rear wheels through a Torsen limited-slip differential.

a close ratio gearbox and some R-compound tires are helping a lot on a track.

Highly unlikely that Ferrari, Aston, Audi R8, AMG are slower than this. Show me a comparison of all these cars and maybe I'll believe it but as it stands now, I see no proof that the mustang is better than some of the top supercars. and whats even funnier, they dont even add the GTR to the list, probably knowing full well that the GTr will destroy the 302 on the track.

Those are only the cars in the vicinity of the Mustang's time. Those times as legit as any other magazine's. Sport Auto is also responsible for the most "official" Ring times. Here is the complete Hockenheim short circuit list : http://www.sportauto-online.de/rundenzeiten-hockenheimring-3650022.html?p=1&sort=ZeitHH&order=ASC
