the best eco solution is a V12 TDI in all Bentley cars if possible....the lowest fuel consumption with full internal combustion power and torque no batteries and electrcity crap and all that uneccessary luggage named electromotors....plus you have a classic engine-drivetrain connection not some hybrid programs to decide!!!
if not all petrol than at least diesel....electric cars are for smaller VW's!!!

That, plus a trans mounted electric motor (in place of tq converter) and a small lithium battery (size of lead-acid battery) is the (current) ultimate solution. But no one wants a diesel Bentley, even if it'd be great.

He added the crossover will be relatively large with a "lot of space in the back."
It looks like it will be based on the 2nd generation Audi Q7.

Diesel Bentley...noo...
Not having any diesel engines is one of the biggest separator of the Bentley from the S-Class.
Diesel engines are great...but it doesn't have a place in a luxo-cruiser.

why not? they can be quiet and more eco-friendly, also they can have a nice sound under full throttle and yet they are more low-rev and high torque masterpiece, I think that diesel engine is more than appropriate for Bentley.
Of course it must be big and turbocharged like the petrol versions are.

I love diesels.
I have a diesel GLK. It's excellent for running about town.
But that's because it's a GLK.
One of my business partner has a diesel S-Class.
It drives well for the reasons you stated above...but no matter what you do you just can't get rid of that noise. Especially in underground parking garages even the diesel in the S-Class sounds like a diesel.
Smaller displacement engines with turbo chargers have high torque for good drivability and are quiet to boot.
