Watch an open-top AC Cobra crash at 130 mph [video]

The owner of this open-top AC Cobra replica walked away from a 130 mph (209 km/h) crash with only minor injuries.

Apparently, while traveling down the main straight just before arriving at the brake zone, a piece of the rear suspension broke. It caused the Cobra to veer off the track and spins, roll and cartwheel coming to a rest 500 feet (152 meters) later.

Despite not having a racing seat, no roll cage, no HANS device, having loose objects in the cabin and a safety harness intalled too high and not tightened, the driver is very fortunate to walk away. He sustained only bruised ribs and minor injuries to his left knee.

Wow this guy is lucky. I am interested to know what part broke that caused this. It's not as if he was doing anything stupid, like weaving, or getting out of the line. Great video. A friend of mine has an AC replica with a 427ci racing engine. He bought it last summer for 62k. It's beautiful. Very much like this one. Before the crash.

Some mad things in that!! One wear a helmet thats the right size for you!! Is helmet is more or less off and secondly i cant believe the marshall removed it straight after the crash, YOU never should remove the helmet until the the driver has been fully checked out SO SO SO lucky that man is still alive!
