Renntech powered Mercedes SLR sets quarter-mile record [video]
A Mercedes-McLaren SLR coupe has set a new record by completing a quarter-mile drag race in just 9.76 seconds, hitting a top speed of 140.8mph (226(kph). The record in question is the fastest a Mercedes-powered Mercedes-Benz has done this distance.
The previous best time was set by the same model in October last year with a time of 10.29 seconds and a top speed of 134mph. The big jump in these figures for the new record make the record breaking run a little extra special.
The Mercedes-McLaren SLR in question has been treated by tuning house Renntech and is wrapped with a Mansory Renovatio bodykit

SLR the fastest Merc....that engine should be an option in SLS or engine from SL65 AMG Black Series :D

Well, the SLS isn't a replacement for the SLR. But I prefer the 6.2 engine since it sounds sexy . ;)

I love the sound of AMG engines...but I wouldn't call it sexy. It's a macho growling engine note.
A Maserati or Ferrari engine note is sexy.
Also the SLR's engine note also has the similar thundering engine note.
AMG tunes their note similarly. It's the signature AMG note.

nunyabub: Forced Induced engines are always bad, all great engines that sound spectacular are N/a. Ferrari, Lambo ( Not that much), AMG Merc, and the Lexus LFA.

That's very impressive. It's actually faster than Bugatti Veyron Supersport!

It moves like a rocket. Going against the Veyron supersport would be awesome but i'd like to see it with SSC Ultimate Aero or the Tuatara. That would be the race.
