It's been a while since we last saw prototypes of the 2013 BMW X6 facelift. Now spy photographers have caught it for the first time during cold weather testing in and around Arjeplog, Sweden.

Changes include front and rear bumper fascias, new internal headlamp design with LED DRL corona rings, redesigned kidney grilles with new slats and wider surround bezel, and new LED design tail lamps.

The petrol engines will likely carryover, but rumors suggest a new tri-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel in a potential X6 xDrive50d could be added to the lineup. It is expected to produce 350 PS (258 kW / 345 hp) to 400 PS (294 kW / 395 hp). Stepping it up to an M treatment renders the X6 M50d with 381 PS (280 kW / 375 hp) and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque. This could enable the crossover to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.

The X6 facelift is expected to be launched in March this year as a 2013 model.

Because they sell shed loads of them the car has every other manufacturer racing to make a model to compete. Unless u think car makers building cars that sell is stupid? Should bmw take the american approach and just build cars no one buys???

as big as an X5 but with LESS utility, can't do much off road at all, looks ugly, and to put that M into it is just pointless. "Thing" has no use in life lol

you say useless but the x6 or x6m can do everything your Acura can and you drive a BMW... For the x6m, you buy it if you want the fastest SUV or SAV (or we can also say one of the fastest with the new Cayenne Turbo). the looking is obviously depends. I think it has his own character which attracts me

That's the thing with many cars of today, for example, that ZDX. i don't like it lol i don't drive THAT, i drive a 2011 Acura TL SH-AWD, but beside the point, X6 just doesn't seem as necessary. You have a great SUV in the X5 but you are willing to sacrifice the practicality of that vehicle for one with a sloping roofline?? same with the ZDX, although it kind of looks cool, the MDX is perfectly fine enough, even in terms of style. I personally don't believe in SUV's having high performance engines, why do you need an SUV per say to go fast and haul people along with utility (even though the cargo space isn't much at all in these crazy crossovers anyway lol) Just get a midsize or fullsize sedan with the power, performance, and practicality. I respect your opinions, but this car must have a small niche of buyers rather than mass market consumption.

I don't really know the Acura models. But after what you wrote I think the ZDX is the car Acura made by copying the x6... You are right x5 is a good SUV (not really good offroad by the way), however somtimes people buy SUV's not to go offroad but just to use them in the city ( I know this is not acceptable for a lot of people). The x6 is the more unique, stylish (for some) version of x5. All depends on how much money do you have and what kind of car do you like. Some people like to drive big cars but also they want to go fast. And that is why Porsche is making Cayenne Turbo's, Bmw is making x5 and x6m's and mercedes is making ml63 and g55 for example. For some people safety is as important as power

not everyone needs tons of space in the back , the X6 is fun to drive and it's good for soft-roading. This is an interesting read : http://www.topgear.com/uk/photos/wild-things-are?imageNo=1

I expect BMW will upgrade the Gas engines: 320hp Xdrive40i and 450hp Xdrive50i. Will keep the X6 competitive when rivals from Audi and Merc arrive.
