Audi RS4 Avant coming later this year - report
Sedan looks like a no-go
The internet is abuzz with rumors that Audi won't build an RS4, but a new report is indicating that isn't correct.
According to Autoblog.nl, a source has confirmed the company will launch an RS4 Avant in the third quarter of 2012. Interestingly, the insider said "do not assume'" there will be a sedan variant. This seems to make sense because our spies have only caught an RS4 Avant and the RS5 would likely steal sales from an RS4 sedan.
Regardless, the model is expected to feature a 4.2-liter V8 engine with 450 PS (331 kW / 444 hp) and 430 Nm (317 lb-ft) of torque. It could be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, but nothing is official as of yet.

They can save us the hype; we all know its coming and likely to be limited. I had hoped it would be out before the facelift coz the new A4 is cr*p.

Ashamed to admit, but frankly I'd like to let the RS4 automatic transmission as in the RS6. Now I want to buy a used model B7 S4, which has automatic transmission, but the owner did the conversion on the B7 RS4. The body is the same as the RS4, the engine power increased to about 500 hp and automatic transmission, wonder ... when I buy it, I will try to show some pics and put a video on YT.

Oh Audi... Why not put the 3.0T from the S4, and tune it up, and gain on handling and performance?? The RS5 is fast, but it's to heavy, and lacks the magic of the RS4 B7 and the R8. Think!!!

Obviously it will have the same engine as the RS5. I wish they would've used the 5 cylinder though, tuned to somewhere around 500hp. The 5 cyl makes such a great noise, which reminds everyone of the old Audi Quattros, and its a shame its not used more than in the RS3 and TT RS.
