Honda Civic crossover coming in 2013 - report
2012 Honda Civic (Euro-spec) - 31.10.2011

Will battle the Nissan Qashqai

Honda is reportedly gearing up to launch a new Civic-based crossover in Europe.

Set to go on sale sometime next year, the model will be heavily influenced by the Euro-spec Civic and slot beneath the CR-V.

Engine options will likely carryover from the hatchback, so expect a 1.4-liter i-VTEC with 100 PS (73 kW / 98 hp), a 1.8-liter i-VTEC with 142 PS (104 kW / 139 hp) and a 2.2-liter i-DTEC diesel that produces 150 PS (110 kW / 148 hp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque.

What a waste of tooling and R&D expenses. Put the money into something more worthwhile please Honda.

This makes absolutely NO sense at all to me. I can see the need for CUV's because they're good sellers, but Honda's lineup already has the CR-V, Hunchback of Notre Dame/Crosstour, Acura RDX, MDX, and Igor/ZDX. Hey, Honda: instead of using the Civic to creat ANOTHER crossover in your lineup, why don't you use your R&D and money to fix up what the Civic could have-- and sould have been?

its probably just for the euro market as we only have the CR-V which is larger and we don't get the Crosstour or (unfortunately) any Acuras

Oh. That makes sense. Sorry about the rant, nahidrahman. And yeah, it's a bit too bad that you guys don't get any Acuras; granted, while I wouldn't buy a ZDX, I like the fact that it looks different than other crossovers on the road (& I'd gladly drive a ZDX over a BMW X6 any day of the week). The TL and TSX are also both nice cars.

Ah-- reread the article-- "reportedly gearing up to launch a new Civic-based crossover in Europe; heavily influenced by the Euro-spec Civic." Honest, stupid mistake. My fault.

I know. Acuras are awesome. I really like the TL, especially the one before the current generation. my cousin had a black one. Naaa..i would have an X6 over pretty much any SUV any day. we do get rebadged acuras here though- our accord is the same as an acura tsx and honda legend is the same as an RL. but i do wish they would bring stuff like TLs, MDXs etc over here.

They should just invest on a family of DI turbo engines instead.

In Europe (in the Alps) Honda Fans asked Honda since Years for a cheeper 4WD. Since the Civic 4WD Shuttle (Produktion stoped 1996), the HR-V Honda sold no cheaper 4WD here. The CR-V is nice but in my Area to expensive. So its a good Idea from Honda and this Car will find his Friends. Greetings from Austria (and sorry for my English)!
