BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe on the street looking real
BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe on the street 26.12 2011

Sometimes a photo of a vehicle on the street in the light of day can capture its essence more so than the glossy heavily edited high-resolution shots that auto manufacturers send out to the media. And here's a good example as German BMW enthusiast site BimmerToday has caught first images of the new BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe parked on the street.

As you may recall, the new BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe has a price of €79,500 in Germany starting with the base model 640i Gran Coupe. The 6-Series Gran Coupe will battle with the Audi A7 Sportback and Mercedes CLS when it is launched despite pricing much higher. The Gran Coupe measures 4.4 inches (111 mm) longer than the 6-Series Coupe and the exterior styling is instantly recognizable.

Inside, the cabin is luxuriously appointed with Dakota leather, heated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control. There's also a "4+1" seating arrangement and a boot that holds 460 liters (16.2 cubic feet) of luggage. Options include ceramic accents, GPS navigation and a Bang & Olufsen audio system.

Everyone commenting is on dope! THIS CAR IS HIDEOUS! The snout is all wrong and reminds me of a rat! The thick crease/molding on the side reminds me of the sonata! Overall this car design sticks to high heaven and it will go the way of the X6. Why buy this if you can get a better designed vehicle cheaper from MB or Audi?

I have to agree. The Gran Coupe concept of a couple years ago was a FAR better looking car. Something to actually compete with the Quattroporte. I love BMWs, always have but the stylists have definitely lost their way since Bangle left. Its almost as if they were afraid to do ANYTHING original after the scathing remarks about his style. Funny thing is, the 5 and 6 series from Bangle look better and better as the years pass.

Hope I will be able to afford this car when it hits the shelves. Its one thing to buy a car on hire purchase/installments and another when you could buy it cash.

I rather take a CLS550 with AMG styling package instead. This car is nice but its too pricy

With this price of course I would definitely chose the CLS-Class or the A7. I don't know how many thousand BMW will sell of this but definitely price is so high. A well equipped CLS350 Cdi, AMG-Pack (+ some good options) in my country is 82.000 Euros without discount* (which is from 5% up to 9% of the given price)*

I want to like this car... but it's like they didn't even try to make it distinctive. If I'm in the market for a "4 door coupe", I want it to grab attention - I want it to compensate for all my male shortcomings...with some left over to compensate for yours too. I'm certainly not buying it for the rear seat headroom. But with competition out there really taking risks, I don't see this as a head-turner. Certain people will buy it because of the spinning propeller on the hood, and being built on the same platform, it's good business because you can charge premium pricing at the same costs - but I just don't see the "why" that someone should buy this over a Panamera/A7/CLS. Love Always, Narco.

WTF? Has BMW totally lost the plot? Place your hand over the back of the car and look at that goddawful front end...then place your hand over the front and see the 3 series back end...and if you're not too ill, look at the early "2000's" 7 series headlights...and if your still able to stand the the sight of it, look at the price! BMW, you used to be so great, what happened?

This car looks so dull! You can see this dullness by comparing the rear door window of this 'coupe' and standard 5-series in the background. There is hardly any difference! Now do the same for E and CLS-class. 20k more? Are they serious?

Guys...wait till you see it in the flesh... It may look dull in the pictures...but BMW always impresses you when you look at it in real life.
