Porsche celebrates return to Le Mans [videos]
A nostalgic look back
Porsche is celebrating their return to Le Mans with a nostalgic look back at their previous victories.
In 1970, Hans Herrmann and Richard Attwood claimed the company's first win behind the wheel of a 917 short-tail. Porsche's success would continue for almost thirty years as Laurent Aiello, Stéphane Ortelli and Allan McNish took the company's 16th and last win in 1998 with the 911 GT1.
As we have previously reported, Porsche will compete in the 2014 Le Mans endurance race with a new LMP1 sports prototype. The company hasn't revealed much about the car, but speculation suggests the vehicle could use hybrid technology to improve its fuel efficiency.

Good news. Tired of the Audi and Pug two ways and with Audi closing in on Porsche in terms of wins timing couldn't be better. Hybrid is coming but everything is sketchy in terms of when, how exactly it will be used, will there be a 'hybrid' class? I think 2011 Le Mans will have at least a manufacturer with some sort of hybrid tech.

I wouldn't say I'm tired of Audi & Pug. Look What happened last LeMans, about 10 seconds (*sarcasm*) into the race Audi lost two cars. But some new competition would be nice. But I have yet to see anything that says VAG will have both Porsche & Audi there. I'm afraid they might cancel Audi's team and replace it with Porsche. To see Audi & Porsche fight each other would be like the Auto-Union & Mercedes "Silver Arrows". If we can get Mercedes (or AMG) to re-enter LeMans would make for an exciting 24hrs!

I wonder how this affects Audi. Will Audi still compete in 2014? Being that both Porsche & Audi are under the umbrella of VAG (i.e. VW) will they cancel Audi's team and just allow Porsche?
Then again, maybe they will use Audi as the showcase for their diesel tech and Porsche for petrol + hybrid tech?
So many questions...I'm excited for 2014, but hope Audi will still be there.
Now When will Bugatti be making a return to LeMans...?

I hope to live to view 17th overall victory of Porsche at 24 hours Le Mans in 2014 and before Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid goes on 2012 and 2013.
