Alfa Romeo 4C will lose the carbon fiber body - report
Coming in 2013
In a recent interview, Fiat Engineering chief Mauro Pierallini revealed some new details about the 2013 Alfa Romeo 4C.
Speaking with Top Gear, Pierallini said the production model will have a new carbon fiber tub with aluminum front and rear sub-frames. The carbon fiber body will also be axed, but the model is targeted to weigh 900 kg (1,985 lbs).
Power will reportedly come from a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with 230 hp (172 kW / 233 PS). It will be connected to a dual-clutch transmission which could enable the coupe to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
Production is targeted at 18,000 units overall and pricing is expected to start at less than £45,000 ($69,885 / €53,670).

Good, they need to focus on more realistic ideas. Want to keep 4C as light as the concept with CF body? strip it down and get rid of all the gizmos. Put an Alfa designed engine ( not Fiat ) in it and i will buy one.

?45K is too much and brings it in to the realm of too much competition. It needed to be ?30-35k tops

Make the body out of wood, if you have to, but do something, Alfa can't survive with MiTo and Giulietta alone in it's range ! Stop delaying production and bring in new models to chose from, please !

Hardly a surprise... but still, 55k euro is a sh**load of money. Shame, I wanted one :)

Too expensive. People will rather go for the new Boxter. I read in a site that there will be more powerful version with 300 hp. So expect the price to reach $80k.
