Will focus on handling over performance

New details are starting to emerge about the 2013 Honda Civic Type-R.

Speaking with AutoCar, Honda's general manager of research and design said the model will have "special bumpers, wheels, spoilers and seats." The car will also feature a retuned suspension for improved handling.

As we have previously reported, the Civic Type-R is expected to use a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with approximately 210 hp (157 kW / 213 PS). It could enable the hatchback to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 150 mph (241 km/h).

OMG! Look at that hideous rear! Last model was better looking definitely, but I didn't like that too much either, it was a bit too rounded from the back.

So let me get this straight, the last Si which was normally aspirated produced 200hp. Now with new technology, a new body, a new engine with a turbo and now the Civic comes in at a whopping 210hp (couldnt they just stuff the Acura RDX turbo engine in it with 240hp?) What a fail from Honda unless it returns 35mpg city and 45 mpg hwy. Then you factor in the Nicki Minaj ass on that car and you really have to ask WTF was Honda thinking? The overall design is okay, but not what I expect for a Type R. Its almost as if Honda used the Kia Forte as the styling benchmark and took the rear styling from the Pontiac Aztek. How sad is that. I really wish this was only the rendering. Too bad Honda is hellbent on this body style. Its okay in the side profile but that ugly rear end needs to go with that fake CRX glass looking black panel under the center brake light. What an ugly ass, sorry.

So it's + 10 Hp with turbo compared with previous Type-R and - 30Hp than S2000 than doesn't used turbo and also the Type RR 2.0

Yeh, so the turbo is basically there to improve fuel economy and meet emission regulations, look at it this way, atleast it will be easier to get more power out of the engine with abit of aftermarket tuning.

Nothing to worry about hp, Honda will surely roll out RR, then RR-S and lastly RR-SS. It is a good marketing strategy to sell car at premium price rather than position 210hp as top range normal Civic and start the R at 250hp and push Honda to develop RR version around 280hp, then RR-S at 320hp and RR-SS at 350hp; those are too much HP and it doesn't even mention Mugen, so 400hp Civic RR-SS Mugen? That is excessive, unless it gets AWD.

I dislike Asian cars, mostly because they are plain or copy of something Euro. But my props go to these little Honda's, they are original. I even like the rear light design.

210hp? They've got to find a way of making the car alot lighter otherwise the new Type R will be lagging way behind its 250hp+ competitors.
