Porsche 9P1 concept 3D animation student project

A team of 3D digital design students from the Institut Supérieur de Design in France have put together this crisp yet dark animation of the Porsche 9P1 concept.

Created by Vincenzo La Manti, Sébastien Baudemont, Thomas Pignol and Ludovic Joppé, the Porsche 9P1 concept represents how a future Porsche model could look like.

Stand out features include a glossy black minimalist interior, carbon fiber rear outer body shell and an exposed rear-engine layout.

The exterior looks strongly influenced by the 918 RSR concept from the front 3/4 view while rear end and roofline are classic 911 silhouette.

i think I'm impressed. A possible sub 918 super car positioned above the 991 Turbo thats been discussed so much? It does scream Cayman from some angles though so for that sub 918 position which I think these designers are getting at. It needs to be a tad more independent of existing Porsche's models.

I don't know about Porsche enthusiasts out there but personally I cannot wait until Porsche refreshes their models, so tired of the same primitive Porsche design that been around for decades with different models look 95% alike. This concept would definably be a good candidate in my opinion, for the next Porsche model.

You don't understand, my friend. It is designed to be as similar to original 911 as possible. It's been perfected long time ago. Dont fix what's not broken.

I understand that Porsche has their own formula going on as to why some of their cars are in their own league. However in my opinion they should try harder to either make some cosmetic changes or add some more variations to their cars so that you wouldn't have to argue with others which car is a Cayenne and which is a 911. It gets kind of dull when pretty much all the cars in the line up look like, with an exception of some Porches that go over $400k.

Well as a Porsche enthusiast I shall reply on behalf of us all. Porsche design language was, is and always will be an evolutionary system. We pick out similarities between say a 996 and a 997 for example. But compare the 991 to a seventies RS 2.7 for example and all that is shared is the basic silhouette, perhaps the shape of the lights etc. Porsche are proud of their history and have absolutely no desire or need to revolutionize the line up like Ferrari feels it's had to do (which was a controversial move. Some Ferrari purists were not happy). What they have done however, is uphold what the Porsche badge has always stood for, the forefront of automotive technology and engineering as well as being absolutely in touch with it means to be a good drivers car. This concept does remain very faithful to Porsche's design of old and is an impressive effort.

I hope they got permission from Porsche or they may soon get a lesson in Trademark laws.
