Within the automotive industry, it is quite known that auto makers on ocassion want their test prototypes of future new models to be seen by the media. The reasons can vary, but usually it is intended to gain feedback if the model is still well into its development where changes can still be implemented. Or, if the vehicle is approaching the end of its development, auto makers will use camouflaged prototypes to hype an approaching debut.
But never before, in the six years that WCF has been publishing spy photos, have we seen an auto maker unabashedly promote a new model by intentionally parading a camouflaged prototype in front of spy photographers with an internet handle prominently displayed.
Jaguar did exactly that with their wagon/estate variant of the XF by posting the twitter account, @sportbrake, across the rear door and quarter panel. But when that failed to elicit the desired response, Jaguar a week later released to the media their own photos of the same prototype caught by spies a week earlier.
Despite their display of boldness, we can't help but wonder if this rendering by PS-garage.com team member Ivan Martinovic defeats their efforts.
