2013 Nissan GT-R rockets to 100 km/h in 2.84 seconds [video]
Faster than a Ferrari 599 GTO
We knew the 2013 Nissan GT-R was going to be impressive, but now a video is claiming the car can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 2.84 seconds.
If that figure turns out to be correct, the GT-R can outgun the Mercedes SLS AMG, the Ferrari 599 GTO and virtually everything else besides the Bugatti Veyron.
As we have previously reported, the 2013 GT-R features an upgraded 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 550 PS (405 kW / 542 hp) and 632 Nm (466 lb-ft) of torque. Nissan has declined to release official performance specifications, but this video will hopefully encourage them to step up to the plate.

Ok. This car is starting to get ridicules. I wonder how long the europeans can keep dismissing it.
Also, where the heck is the Honda nsx? That is traditionally a better car.

I love this car. Just like the Datsun 240Z amazed everyone in the 1970's , Nissan(Datsun) does it again. This is a $200,000 car for half the price. They must not be making much of a profit on the car. Ferrari has a 100% mark up primarily because of the low volume production and the dealer can make another 20% since they do not move volume like Chevy.

Many people hate this car and call it boring because od the fact that this car smashed and smoked most of their beloved exotics. Will done Nissan and i'm waiting for the.GT-Rs official lap record.

I wouldn't call it 'hate' but the truth is, although I admire the car, I don't like it because of its looks. It looks like a custom Japanese car which is not exactly my taste. Other than that, I love it that it can overshadow the luxury supercars. As I said before, Nissan should put all this tech in a 300Z-like chassis to make it a dream machine.

No it's not hate. Total respect for this car. I've always admired the Skyline GT-R since its inception for being what it is. A hyper car that can be easily tuned to embarrass cars twice to triple its price. And for being a car that fosters a fairly sizable tuning industry of people dedicated to get even more out of it.
But...there are more to cars than sheer numbers and performance figures.
It's the intrinsic things that the GT-R lacks.
Maybe if I was a track junkie I would buy this...but...I'm not...

the next and last update will be in form of GT-R R-spec
after that we can wait for new GT-R, probably with 4.0L V6 engine and around 600hp
...althoug 4.0 V8 could be used!

great car...and all that. im a bit confused, if this is, as the video sais, the 2012 (us 2013) GTR, the 520 hp version was... what year?

WOW THAT IS FAST!!!....Exact 0-60 time as the Porsche 911 Turbo S. I think we need to see a head to head race between the two to see who is truly faster.
Who agrees?

The turbo S benifits from being very light and aound 250 kg lighter than the GTR. Actually Nissan supposed to make this car all out of Alluminum to keep it lightweight.

I don't think anyone would call the driving experience boring, but there is no doubting that the styling and design far from complements the drive of the car.

Didn't they claim it could do it in 2.7 seconds!? Your cheating us Nissan!!!lol

This car represents a challenge to the "established emotions".Its like what audi did with the RS4 challenging the established M3,and M3 having to catch up on the solid RS4.Its a great car from people most of us would have never thot they would come from.

Audi's rs4 failed against the e92 m3, rs5? No different.. Some cars you can't beat in terms of excitement and driving pleasure. This car is awesome because it delivers enormous performance for so little money. Looks good imho but you get what you pay for. If I had a car collection, I'd buy this car for track purposes only..

If Nissan wasted all the R&D on building only 2 Juke-R models with this powertrain, I could only imagine what they could pull off if they started off with the Infiniti Essence Concept AWD coupe chassis and modified it to fit a custom V12 built from joining two GTR motors. The target would be 1000hp, and I could see it outperforming the Veyron even if its only to 60mph. Yeah I know they are worlds apart and the Veyron is a highly respected vehicle, but if Nissan is currently in Veyron territory with half the displacement and 10 less cylinders, imagine what they could do with 2 of those motors in the same vehicle. Hmmmmm

this is a trumendous car...but i think the fact that is thrushes and smashes many other supercars which people like..makes it a car which many people want to despise, but ah nissan what a marvel you have built!
