Toyota FT-86 teased ahead of Tokyo Motor Show unveiling [video]

Toyota has released a new teaser trailer for the upcoming Toyota FT-86 which will debut at the Tokyo Motor Show at the end of this month.

Although we have a pretty good idea of what the yet to be unveiled FT-86 will look like following a fair share of leaks over the past few weeks, the video shows glimpses of the new model as well as the engine during what appears to be the design and development process.

If the leaks prove to be correct, we can expect to find a 2.0 liter four-cylinder engine with 200 PS (147 kW / 197 hp) and 205 Nm (151 lb-ft) of torque. Kerb weight is believed to be as low as 1,210 kg (2,668 lbs).

Keep your eye on WCF for more details as the official unveiling approaches.

If this thing will really be 1210 kg, even if it will be drained of all and every drop of it's operating fluids, it's still light as hell! Even a compact B-class car is heavier (1.4 T-Jet Grande Punto weighs 1230 kg).

Soo many sceptics about this cars performance (not enough power...old S2000s out gunning this car) for all we know this could be a very good handling car. You dont need super amounts of power if you have a great balance chasis. We'll just have to wait and see good this car really is when it is released or we can just wait for TRD to spice up which will be expected once this car goes into full production

200 Nm isn't enough it needs an extra 40 Nm to be fast.

Too bad they're not selling it here in the USA badged as a Toyota. They could have revived the revered "Celica" name for the US model.
