This seems like a strange decision. I guess we'll see what really happens. I find it really odd that in North America, it's AWD in demand moreso than Hybrid drivetrains. It must be very snowy.

in the future, tata will be designing the most unreliable cars on the road.

Do you seriously think the brilliant engineers and designers of Tata and Geely are actually designing Jags, Range Rovers and Volvos??? LOL

so Tata has no effect whatsoever on Jaguar? How is the relationship between both companies? Tata brings in the money, Jaguar makes the cars? would be nice of you to explain it. I love Jags but having Tata as their parent company ruins their image a bit, don't you think?

You guys are bigoted idiots. Go bury your head deeper in the sand.

Although the trend of hybrid systems has been ongoing since the first Toyota Prius came into the automotive scene in 1997, it had become a necessary staple for each and every car manufacturer.
Interestingly, Jaguar is one of the few carmakers to shelve hybrid tech aside - given the words from one senior official - as a result of expensive development costs. We shall see how Jaguar pans this out.

I wonder since where have I mentioned that Jaguar will be competing with Prius and Volts? None.

im wondering the same thing why would anyone mention Prius in the same post as Jags perhaps Lexus HS or LS hybrid two hybrid luxury car that are pretty much failure or average at best. That's why Jaguar decided to shelves the hybrid concept and go persue more money making options of AWD technology for their products.

how many car of this class that have a successful hybrid version? Now think of all of the cars of this class that have successful AWD versions? if you are buying a car of this class fuel saving is not your primary concern. People who buy hybrids do not buy $70k+ luxo land yachts!

Playing catch up to where the market segment is today is not considered effective strategic planning.

WOOOT? Well, the tata 4x4 cars are solid, though not really nice. If the system can be refined 4 jag, this could work

ok i dont mind Tata being the silence partner/owner but if they start putting Tata technologies into Jags then umm that will totally devaluate the brand bigtime!

where else do U suppose they gonna get that 4wd system. Its not always a bad thing. Bentley is better than it was in the 90's and is currently VERY VW- derived. They don need to say where t comes from, if they spend the time 2 make it work well...
