Nissan Juke-R announced with 480 bhp [video]

See how they fit the engine

Nissan knows their Frankenstein project is an oddity of amazement. So it's no surprise Nissan is giving us a slow intravenous drip feed of this Juke-R teaser campaign to milk as much exposure as they can get.

Admittedly, we are captivated as the fourth video is released, this one focusing on the engine. The Juke-R tosses the original 1.6-liter engine in exchange for the almost mythic twin-turbo V6 powerplant found in the Nissan GT-R. The only problem is that the Juke was never designed to fit a 3.8-liter engine with lots of plumbing. As a result, Nissan engineers not only had to build the car around the engine but also find the space to house all the cooling systems.

In the video engineers explain the challenge in the work involved as well as reveal that the Juke-R will be slightly tuned down from the Nissan GT-R's 520 bhp (530 PS / 390 kW) to 480 bhp (486 PS / 358 kW).

this publicity effort is akin to a slow , agonizing striptease act since the project proponents began issuing this announcement . to my mind , the bodyshell employed here ought to have been the cleanly-proportioned/robust Qazana concept car and not this emerging bodywork which sprouted ungainly-looking rear wing and other associated aerodynamic-enhancing acoutrements . to say nothing of that bloated rear bumper and lethargic-apppearing lowered ride height .

Beautiful, just like the BMW 5GT/X1/6, Honda Crosstour or Pontiac Aztek! (Once it goes into a solid wall doing 150 mph!). It's amazing how polarizing it is to look at and thankfully haven't seen many of these Aztek offshoots on the road.
