Accident occurred during a 300 lap endurance run by the M6 Coupe prototype

Another BMW M6 Coupe prototype has crashed while testing on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife after a previous incident last August.

The crash, which took place last week, appears to have caused some pretty severe damage to the front and rear ends of the car, as we can see in the spy photos here.

Our spy photographers report that the car was undergoing a grueling 300 lap endurance test when the accident occurred - just eight laps before the finish. The driver apparently lost control of the car at the segment of the Nordschleife called Fuchsröhre (which translates into 'foxhole').

The photos were snapped as the BMW crew was loading the damaged car onto a transporter with a forklift. The rear axle could no longer roll, which is why the crew had some difficulty in getting the car onto the truck.

How many here are actualy commenting on the article? Grow up and realize 1- This is a driver, on one of the world's toughest circuits, with an unreleased car, that requires huge gondas, so props to that. 2- All manufacturers are better than all others, in some or other aspect, or U fanboys would have to find something else to start ur school yard arguments.

The amount of fanbois here is overwhelming as usual, what's with the fanboism on Audi? Anyway, hope the driver is ok and they should get another driver that won't spend too much time crashing it

Accident on a n-ring is a normal thing. But we see the driver is ok, and car didn`t start to burn like some others do...

That car makes no sense at all.. more expense on the company to produce M line for each product.. would rather like to see money and research spent on a mid-engine vehicle where the real competition is at..

Yep, Audi sure makes a better car! You know, the ones which are even lower than BMW on the JD Power initial quality list, and have dismal quality records in Consumer Reports. Yep, that's why Audi is always the vehicle compared against by other manufacturers...no, wait, that would be BMW again, or Mercedes, or Volvo, or Lexus...

300 laps on the Nordshleife, it means at least 300 times 8mn... Which represents 40 hours. Is that human ? Is it doable ? Is the track open that late?!

Hmmm ... someone in the other articles about the BMW much praised their handling characteristics, I wonder what to write here;-) Had rear drive proved to be insufficient for such a demanding track? ;-) (quattro fan ;-))

Even the race track says, that car is very ugly, just kidding. But 300 laps is really necessary I mean its a passenger car not a race car.
