I wish i worked for mitsubishi, with all of the concepts and designs they have had, anyone can create a mountain of ideas of vehicles that can be put into production including this concept, Hybrids, electric, diesels and of course there main production vehicles. what the heck is going on at mitsubishi.

Whatever hybrid they produce and badge it "Evo", the true Evo died for me after Evo 9 went off production.

Why??? Because the Evo x has a nicer interior then the 9? The true Evo is far from dead, my x is just as capable on a race track as a IX and much more compliment then a IX on the street. With more power output better interior, handling and a more advanced aluminum engine with dual mivec. That sounds like evolution to me, I love all evos so bring it on just please make it light and a potential, capable nsx, gtr, supra, Sti, m3 fighter because that's what us Evo lovers build it for.

watch this on youtube /watch?v=yPeIumioYOE. This shows again that Evo x is slower than 9. When MotorTrend tested Evo x back in 2008 they said it's slowest evo they ever tested. Autocar measured Evo x 0-100mph in 13secs and said that Evo 6 was capable of 11sec 0-100. Evo x doesn't have any excuse for being slower than 13 year old Evo 6 both in straight and corners. Now the Evo 5 and 6 were truly GTR, Porsche fighters while Evo X is slower than, well, everything))). It's slower than even audi TTS, or S4. Doesn't even come close to M3, and people now compare it to Golf Gti. What a shame.

It's not a horrible idea but i still don't see a diesel-Electric-hybrid Evo as anything other than an option (maybe for the European market) Mitsubishi wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot like that, after-all they're looking to sell as many cars as possible.

Hey, Mitsubishi were going to axe the Evo altogether, but we (well, a group of people) convinced them to keep it going, despite rumours of a hybrid Evo already circulating. What happens next is on us (well, "them").

A friend of mine just bought a MB GL diesel. The engine sounds like a gasoline type, the exhaust does not smell like diesel and the performance is outstanding without the sound of a pop corn machine. Literally, I could not tell it was a diesel!

Actually you got it all wrong. Diesel tends to be better at performance than gasoline does, and diesel engines last longer. The reason why gasoline is so popular in US is because it was cleaner back then than diesel and now because the demand for it is so small, it's more expansive than gas and considerably more expansive than it should be if it was on high demand. It seems that diesel is more superior than gasoline, it's the fault of oil companies, market and government as to why diesel is not so popular in America.

Dear Lord, no... The clean issue - completely true. Its gone. But the lasting issue - it is also gone. Diesel engines WERE longer lasting. But they are too complex now to achieve such durability as years ago. Sad thing is, a good maintained petrol engine will las exactly the same causing way fewer damage to the pocket when servicing it (common rail, FAP etc).

Death of a legend or the dawn of a new 'error'? With the motor industry moving towards diesel 'sports' cars, this Evo strategy may not be a bad thing but will have to see the final product. Will 'petrolheads' need to change their names...?

Actually I guess that may not seem that sad really. I mean, since the birth of this car it really wasn't there to compete on brand image, luxury, style, engine sounds and all those sorts of stuff. So as long as they keep packing the car full of complicating systems, programming and mechanical stuff and fulfil the performance goals, I guess there isn't really much to moan about for fans of these sorts of cars. I guess the same goes with the Subaru Impreza as well...

I think diesel hybrid is the way to go. I wish they would do the same for the SUV market especially as a plug in. The Big 3 always stated their profit margins were the best for SUVs so there is room for a diesel hybrid plug in SUV)(Take a pickup, enclose the back, throw a third seat in and charge at least another $15000
