Mercedes A-Class Cabrio coming in 2014 - report
Will battle the A3 & 1-Series Convertible
According to a recent report, Mercedes will introduce an A-Class Cabrio in 2014.
Designed to compete with the BMW 1-Series Convertible, the model will ride on the new MFA platform which underpins the 2012 B-Class. The car will likely have a soft top to save weight and reduce costs.
Engine options should include a 1.6-liter petrol with outputs of 122 PS (90 kW / 121 hp) and 156 PS (115 kW / 154 hp). On the diesel side, we can expect a 1.8-liter unit which develops 109 PS (80 kW / 107 hp) and 136 PS (100 kW / 134 hp).

Thats nice, they should offer this car their new 2.2L diesel engine as an A250 CDI. Also can't wait for the AMG version of it.

Oh, good. Maybe this means they changed their mind about not making the 3-door version.

Since there will be an AMG version that's AWD, hopefully there will also be a WRC entry to rival the new Mini. That would be interesting.

I'd love to see that happen. But I think this Merc would do better with RWD and MOAR POWWAHH!

It had always been rumored that a convertible version could only be profizable if realized together with a coup?. So I guess the decision is made.

It's not hard to beat BMW design lately, except for the 5 series which is brilliant.

That concept looks brilliant. Too bad automakers are too boring and blind to produce such magnificence come the road-going versions.
