Jennifer Lopez Fiat 500 commercial debuts [video]

Actress and pop start Lopez shown driving in a Fiat 500 Cabrio through her native Bronx

With dealers clamoring for more national advertising, Fiat has unveiled a new national ad in the United States featuring the actress and pop star Jennifer Lopez.

The ad is called 'My World' and shows Lopez driving a Fiat 500 Cabrio from Manhattan to her native Bronx - a place she says still serves as her inspiration.

Said Olivier Francois, head of Fiat USA, of what the ad is meant to convey about the Fiat brand: "The commercial tells the story of how the simple elements of our upbringing can help explain who we are, where we're going and serve as a source of inspiration to achieve our goals in life. That drive and determination is the common thread that is shared with the Fiat brand and our philosophy that ‘Life is Best When Driven."

The ad began airing on U.S. national television on Monday.

I'm guessing the driver seat area had to be custom made wider? Let's just say I don't ever think we'll ever see "J-Lo" pedaling a road bike down the street, let alone driving a Fiat through the Brox just to reminisce about life and where she's been (and who with). Answer to the later? On her way to the top by "befriending" a long list of very fine and distingushable leading men in the television/music/movie industry. J-Lo = proof positive that you do not need talent or brains to make it in Hollywood.

First off, I'm happy its just a 500, and not an Abarth. and secondly! watch it get stolen 5 minutes after she leaves it parked in "the bronx" xD hahaha

Commercial has been out for over a month, curious why this is a story now. JLO is a joke and all it did was make a marketing attempt on a crap car even worse. FAIL

im a new yorker and after watching this video umm it seem that FIAT is trying to cater to the inner city female crowd which are not the type that buy cars (subway and bus riders). whose brilliant idea is this commercial?! i think JLo had some creative control over this commercial. From my personal experience here in nyc these car are selling and can be seen around quite abit! they are driven mostly by yuppies, euro-trash and metrosexual MALES lol i think those are the best market to cater to by this car. First of all they can afford to buy the car and might actually need it. The car itself got its european flare hence add to its trendiness yet its relatively economical, the mentioned crowd love these qualities. This is clearly a city car so big huge cargo area is not a factor, you need something small and easy to park more than anything. Basically Fiat is going for the fun, TRENDY, city car and this car is undeniably all of that!

The footage and concept are average at best. Jennifer Lopez, the fact that she's the face of this campaign, her delivery and her music, are awful. Justa awful. Horrible idea.

Who is Fiat kidding with this? They never has a chance with 500. Both Mini and Bettle are much bigger in size and are legends in their own right, not so much the Fiat 500, at least here in the US and that is why it won't sell well. However, reduce the price to starting at $11999 and and they will start flying off the shelf like hot cakes. Yeah we are very price conscious, remember HP Touchpad.

the mini is all drawn out and desperately need of a replacement. Adding doors, stretching the poor thing and/or raising it and calling it an SUV only cheapen the brand. The smart is just too small and after these couple of years it lost its novelty value. As for the Beetle its still a viable competitor but all of the people who will want to buy it already bought it after almost 10 yrs run, stretching it and injecting some testosterone into the car might attract some male buyers but this is just VW’s way of holding out until a new model come out. Both the mini and beetle are banking on their old well known names but they can only milk it for so long.

Every time company uses a celebrity it shows how laim their ideas are, lacking any innovation. What JLo's personal feelings have incommon with a car. 500 looks good, but it won't sell well in US. It will follow a smart car. Few will sell in a city, forget the suburbs, I don't want to drive 80mph in a truck lane in that car.

My two thoughts about this. Fiat just wrote-off American male customers for the 500, and it seems she would own a car with a, uh, large trunk.

Was the 500 ever really a viable option for American males? If Lopez was driving the 500 Abarth that would have sent a much more interesting message. Hot chick fast car sort of vibe.
