Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG spied undisguised in Dubai
Inching closer to production
The sleuths at 3rabcars have managed to get up close and personal with the Mercedes G65 AMG.
Caught in Dubai, the model has a familiar design but is distinguished by an aggressive front bumper, new side mirrors and AMG wheels.
Inside, the cabin is significantly improved with a new instrument cluster (with a 320 km/h speedometer), center stack and steering wheel. Additionally, the revised center console has a new gear knob and a COMAND controller.
Under the hood, there appears to be a 6.0-liter bi-turbo V12 engine. It remains unclear how much it will produce, but previous reports have indicated it could develop 612 PS (450 kW / 604 hp) and 1,000 Nm (737 lb-ft) of torque.

I simply love the G - no matter what engine, it's (next to the Defender) the only 4x4 I would love to own!

Are there plans for a G-wagen refresh for the whole range, then?
We're thinking about buying the G350, but if this interior is coming out, we'd definitely wait. HUGE improvement on the interior.

Before fittimg the V12 engine they must try to reduce the weight of this car. At least use a carbon fiber roof, bonnet and boot to bring the weight down. For the interior from what i see.here its much better than the current old interior

I like! Reduce weight? On a G?? I want a tank not an soft-off-roader. If I want less weight and even more speed then I'd focus on the ML63 AMG. The strength of the G-class is it can hit potholes all day long, year in, year out without needing any suspension work. You don't even feel the impacts. Not even the new big Toyota Landcruiser can handle that!

Yes it can. As can the 70 series, and the Patrol, and the Disco, and the Defender, and the.... The list goes on.

Nice, but some strange things I see : steeringwheel of new C class, Shifterknob is from E 63 AMG, Command navigation is from new B 246 model
Finally this G is blue/black, but the inside of the bonnet is silver.....
Let's wait and see, end 2012 this baby is comming.

I find this car more desirable than any exotic sports car for some odd reason.
