2012 Porsche Boxster spied undisguised

With the recent unveiling of the 911, Porsche is gearing up to launch a redesigned Boxster.

Caught undisguised, the model has evolutionary design which adopts a few styling cues from its rear-engined brother. The front end is instantly recognizable, but everything aft of the steeply raked A-pillar is reworked for a more aggressive appearance.  Most notably, the side air intakes are enlarged and the rear spoiler carries over into the taillights. 

Engine options remain unconfirmed, but the Boxster S is expected to use a 3.4-liter flat six with approximately 315 hp (235 kW / 319 PS) and 360 Nm (266 lb-ft) of torque. A four-cylinder could debut in the entry-level model, but previous reports have indicated the 2.9-liter flat six will be used - at least initially.

The 2012 Boxster could be unveiled at the Detroit or Geneva motor show, so expect to learn more in the coming months.
