Honda Civic Type R will return - details reported
2012 Honda Civic (Euro-spec) 13.09.2011

Honda will produce a Type R from the new generation, five-door, euro-spec Civic with around 210 HP

The Honda Civic Type R will make its return to the new generation euro-spec Civic range, according to a report by Auto Express.

The British magazine reports that Honda will be opting for a 2.0 liter turbocharged unit this time with an output of around 210 bhp (157 kW / 213 PS) and matched to a six-speed manual gearbox. The 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) sprint is expected to come in at around 6.5 seconds and the car will have a top speed of about 150 mph (241 km/h).

The new Civic's longer and wider chassis itself will help better handling but the Type R will also come with a body kit that includes a large mesh grille, lower chin front spoiler, side skirts and a rear diffuser and extended spoiler at the back. The car will also benefit from a tauter suspension and will compete against the likes of the VW Golf GTI.

The Honda Civic Type R will be offered exclusively as a five-door hatch (as is the standard euro-spec Civic) and will debut in 2013 with prices in the U.K. starting at around £23,000 (€26,822).

Auto Express is a joke. Yes, a turbo would help with torque at low revs, but why wouldn't they increase power? They got 200hp from the naturally aspirated engine, they turbocharge it and get 210? Please... Especially now that the competition has mostly gone up to around 230/250hp.

Do you only drive in a straight line? My first civic barely got 100hp and it was already fun to drive. HP is overrated, its all about power to weight ratio buddy.

I can't imagine myself being seen in this bubbly feminine car. I would rather consider the Focus RS, Astra OPC or Scirocco.

Only 5-door version desired by the parent!? They have to be joking, right? A sporty car has to be a 3 door (as well), the 3 door design is a great and must fit to a car like this and will definitely attract more buyers merely from a design point of view. Please bring back the 3 door TYPE S. Then you have a buyer right here!
