The AMG Peformance Media - a new tool for the track

System provides real-time data on a car's performance including G-force and horsepower/torque

AMG has produced this video of an SLS AMG doing laps at the Hockenheim track to illustrate the use of its AMG Performance Media.

The AMG Performance Media is a data acquisition system that provides real-time performance information on the display screen in the cockpit. That includes metrics on lateral G-forces, brake, throttle, horsepower and torque.

The system can also measure lap times and lap segments and helps a driver do their best on a circuit.

Watch the video for a proper demonstration.

I wonder if it is revolving around the same concept of what Polyphony did with the screen in R35 GTR.

Its a good gimmick to show off, even to play with, futuristic, a good step by AMG to stay in touch with the times, but that old aircon control and silly cluttered center console really puts me off, too many buttons for such a cool clean car it lets down the rest of the beautiful interior.

GTR has that but still I wonder who goes around a track looking at that instead of after the lap?
