German tuner takes output past the 608 HP expected in the upcoming SLS AMG Black Series

German tuner Kubatech has a new power upgrade package for the SLS AMG Gullwing.

The tuner, working with Mcchip-dkr, has developed a software-based optimization kit for the SLS AMG that dials output on the 6.3-liter (6,208cc) V8 engine to 625 PS (460 kW / 616 hp) and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque over the series 571 PS (420 kW / 563 hp) and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque.

That's 17 PS more than the 608 PS (447 kW / 600 hp) expected in the upcoming SLS AMG Black Series and in full compliance with what is allowed by Mercedes-Benz.

Total cost for the upgrade is €8026.

haha you have to be an idiot to spend over 8000 euros on a chip to get just over 50hp from stock on your SLS. You will not even notice a difference

I think its money well spent considering the Black Series will cost at least $80,000 more and it will have less hp than the stock model with the 8k euro performance chip. I think more "idiots" will buy the chip as opposed to those who will trade in the regular SLS for the Black Series.

You obviously don't know too much about high performance car. Yes 50hp will make big difference. It's 10% more power, and most likely the time from 0 to 100kph will decrease somewhere around 0,2s which you would easily feel in a car that can do that in less than 4 secs.

Oh and the price is really good and when you take car price into consideration that is a small fraction of the car price. Also note that there are some idiots in this world who spend same amount of money on their 95 Civics to get scissor doors.

Its about status when buying a Black series. Do you think a 58 year man old will care if he has 50hp more or less. I dont think so, hence no point in buying a chip. Our speed limits in Canada are 100km/h on the highway lol.
