Ferrari 458 Spider live debut in Maranello [video]

New folding hard-top 458 is given an introduction in Ferrari's hometown ahead of its official premiere in Frankfurt next week

Here are a few photos from the Ferrari 458 Spider world debut in Maranello, Italy.

The car will make a more official premiere at the Frankfurt motor show next week but this is the more exclusive event by invitation only.

Hey, isn't that Fernando Alonso popping the roof on the new Spider?

The 458 Spider comes with an aluminum folding hard-top roof that deploys in 14 seconds. It features the same 4.5 liter V8 unit from the 458 Italia coupe which has an output of 570 PS (425 kW / 563 bhp) and 540 Nm of torque (398 lb-ft).

What an awfull color. Probably the brochure doesn't see that it only contains natural pigment and natural flavors..., but at least kids will love licking your car.

Not a fan of the 458, I think by Ferrari's standards it's a poor show. Not a patch on the looks of the 430 Spider (or the California for that matter). If I had to choose I would take the Coupe but I just think it doesn't enti9rely look aestethic/balanced in the same way as an R8 looks. Just my opinion but I expect nearly all of you to disagree.

I second that. Everytime I look at an R8 or the 458 they look like that good looking girl with something missing. You cant put your finger on what's missing but because of that you don't like em that much. The last beautiful ferrari in my eyes was the F355 and maybe the F50. Just like you said this is my opinion and I expect nearly all of you to disagree.

I love the F355 & the Enzo but I believe the 458 is right up there with them, especially the Spider. I love the R8 but I can see something's missing when its parked next to the 458. No idea what or why.

This car is absolutely gorgeous!! theres always people that say "oh the best looking Ferrari was the 355" the same way they say "oh the best looking BMW was the E46".. give me a break!! The California is drop dead gorgeous and so is the 458! Sex on wheels in every color. Hand me the keys of one in ANY color, I'll have a grin from ear to ear

What's wrong with comparing an R8 to a 458? They are both V8 supercars that handle well and go like stink. There are some people out there that will always just love any car produced by certain manufacturers....I don't let myself get influenced by a brand name in that way. For instance I think the FF looks awful but there are people who will "love" it just because it is a Ferrari. Just like there are muppets out there who would buy albums from certain rock bands regardless of whether they like this or not...that in my view is pathetic.
